Hi to all my blogger friends and best wishes for 2010.Had a difficult couple of months so very little photo taking let alone posting. However during this last few days when, because of the snow,I have had a little bit more time I managed to catch a couple of photos and, amongst the loads of blackbirds, goldies, chaffinch sparrows and yellowhammers I caught this little bird.I hope I am right in thinking it is a reed warbler.I know someone will confirm for me.

Very Close sheila, its a Reed Bunting. A cracking bird to have in your garden, but Yellowhammer is also a cracking garden bird - two great species to see from your window! well done.
thanks Warren a very first for me.What a delightful little bird it is.The yellowhammers are coming in everyday usually about 8 of them.Never had as many
oops silly me.When I looked at identifier realised its nowt like a warbler.......had meant to put bunting. Its my age.......
Hi Sheila.
Nice photo's of the birds in the snow, especially the Yellowhammer. Reed Bunting is a easy mistake to make, just remember that Reed Warblers migrate to Africa for the winter.
Nice to have you back
well done on the bunting sheila, good to have you back.

Oh Sheila! I have just seen your last comment, I'm so very sorry your husband and of course you are having such a bad time at the moment, when you were absent for a while I assumed it was because you were busy with your voluntary conservation work. What a worrying time for you both, I shall be thinking of you and wishing you a happy and much healthier New Year!
Your garden visitors never cease to amaze me, regular Yellowhammers and now a Reed Bunting, well done and great that you got some lovely photos too :)
thank you so much shysongbird for you kind words. We are very hopeful all will be well eventually.Weather being awful makes things so much harder.I am only able to get up to the bird hide at dilston once a week but at least I know I am helping some birds make it through the winter. All the best for 2010 to you and yours
Sheila
