this poor bird died today.Looks so healthy but has that awful disease(can't spell it)Hope it doesn't spread.

The yellowhammer is an adult male Sheila. Shame about the Chaffinch dying. I had a Greenfinch go the same way at he weekend. :-(

thanks warren it has such a cute face felt it had to be a baby(takes me ages to learn)what do you do about feeding your birds when this horrible disease comes

Poor chaffie Sheila, its so sad to lose them to this horrid disease.Im not even sure of the symptoms, will have to read up on it. Lovely pics x

the only way I know Karen is they become more lethargic and don't fly off.You can see them with the seed in their beak but can't swallow and their feathers always seem puffed up.I think the bacteria only last two hours on things like the seed the bird spits out etc.So food left out overnight wouldn't be a problem its the close contact during feeding etc.
