Your little one looks like to me a Bank Vole (there is a Field Vole which is very similar) They are sweet. I have watched one at the RSPB nature reserve at Arne, popping out and then rush to the area where the feeders are, pick up a seed, then rush back to its hole. I also saw one on the side of a road sitting up, nibbling on something. A car drove passed it and it was so close, I held my breath but it was ok. It seemed to be oblivious of the car because it did not move until I disturbed it.
